Never Forget (Cliche Alert)

Its easy to fall into hopeless and unfeeling cliches when talking about the single worst event in our nations history. People with ribbons on their cars, flags at half staff, moments of silence, etc. However, i feel that this country has gone back to its pre-sept 11th mindset. I saw a poll on the tribune this morning saying that more than half(i think 56%) of those who polled said they think the nation is less safe than before sept 11th. I hate these click polls, because it lets every idiot who doesnt watch the news as well as every idiot who wears a tinfoil hat vote. All these people have views and opinions, but so very few are based in fact.

I think this bullshit cynical attitude that the majority of the US population has right now about our need to stop Islamic Extremism is something that will continue to plague us. Has Bush handled it well? Eh, i dunno. Approval ratings be damned, i dont know how this war is won. The problem is that the public is more divisive, more petty and more whiney. We lost touch of that feeling we had on september 12th. A feeling of unity and resolve behind the need to make sure this doesnt happen again. I hate to say it, but i dont think this would be an issue if we had the problems Israel has. People feel safe. When they feel safe, they dont have to face the realities.

Ramble ramble bitch bitch. I know. Im not wishing for us to get attacked, im just so sick and tired of media bullshit, leftist whining and extreme right wing bullshit. Its a good thing presidential election is coming up. I hope Fred can make himself be the candidate i know he can be.

I digress.
